Have you ever found yourself in the shoes of an accidental counsellor?

Join the FLPN for a free, face to face workshop presented by professional Lifeline Trainer and Crisis Support Manager, Di Bannister, teaching basic skills for assisting clients in crisis.
The Accidental Counsellor Workshop offers a great set of toolbox skills for professionals working with clients in family law for moments when you may find yourself in a counselling capacity. In community services work, we may often be the first point of contact for someone in crisis needing immediate assistance. Even without a formal qualification in counselling, counselling techniques and questioning frameworks provide the necessary support to clients when they are feeling:

  • anxious, angry, dealing with loss or experiencing a challenging time in their life.
  • Participants gain a greater understanding of how to communicate effectively and learn strategies to help foster supportive and trusting relationships with clients.
  • How you respond will create an impact on the person in need of support

Di Bannister is the Trainer and Crisis Support Manager for Lifeline Mid North Coast and has been with Lifeline Mid Coast since 1995.
Di has training in various modalities of counselling, Cert IV Telephone Counselling, as well as Mental Health First Aid and DV Alert. Di also attended the University of Western Sydney for 3 years of psychology training.

Event Location: The Westport Club – 25 Buller Street, Port Macquarie (Registration essential)

Morning Tea will be provided as part of the workshop.
